The Tanzania Association of the Deaf – CHAVITA, registered in the United Republic of Tanzania, was established in 1984 by Deaf individuals seeking to promote equality and rights for the Deaf community. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, CHAVITA operates branches across 17 regions. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for Deaf individuals through mobilization, participation, and education, both within the Deaf community and the broader society. We advocate for equality and human rights for the Deaf, while also working to develop Tanzanian Sign Language.
